I was driving from San Francisco towards Pacifica about 45 minutes before sunset when I noticed an unusually large and bright parhelion to the left of the sun. By the time I had parked my car and reached the promenade, the sundog had already lost considerably in brightness. Below is the photo I took before this halo phenomenon faded completely.
